If your schedule allows, arrive on a weekday around 15:30. The morning cruise-ship groups have already left, the afternoon schoolchildren are gone, and the Gallery of Honour feels almost calm. You still have ninety minutes before closing — enough for the highlights — and the low afternoon light through the skylights changes the paintings completely.
